Tennis star Caroline Wozniacki revealed this week that she and fiancé Rory McIlroy have set a wedding date. They're just not ready to tell the public when it is.
"We have set the date," Wozniacki told the media after winning a match at the WTA Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships. When asked if it was this year, she replied, "You never know," while sporting a smile large enough to give the impression that it will be in 2014.
"I am so excited - it's such an exciting time," Wozniacki said.
Then came the inevitable question she has probably been asked hundreds of times: Are you a better golfer than he is a tennis player?
"It used to be I was a better golfer, but it's not anymore, because in the off season he was hitting (tennis balls) every day," Wozniacki said. "So that's not fair.
"I started hitting (golf balls) decent after I hit for a couple of weeks, and I'm really happy and pumped and excited, and then I don't play for four months, and then I come back and I'm back to zero."
As for Wozniacki's tennis game, she's 3-0 this week in Dubai and will face American Venus Williams in the semifinals on Friday. It marks the first time she's made it past the third round of a tournament in four events this year.
As for McIlroy's golf game, he's taking on Harris English on Thursday at the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship. McIlroy ousted Boo Weekley, 3 and 2, in Wednesday's first round, which also saw McIlroy unintentionally send a fan into a cactus.
