Jason Dufner is such an Auburn backer that it’s easy to forget his roots. The man was born and raised – until he was 11 – in Cleveland. So naturally, that’s where he formed his sports allegiances.

His Cleveland Browns pride (apparently there is such a thing) was in full effect Thursday night as the first round of the NFL Draft was playing out. Dufner really wanted his Browns to take Johnny Manziel, and sure enough, after plenty of wheeling and dealing, the downtrodden club complied with the Duf Daddy’s request (because surely Cleveland officials were following him on Twitter).

With the No. 22 pick in the first round – their second of the night, and one that materialized after three trades involving the team – the Browns made Johnny Football the face of their franchise. Dufner lives in Alabama, nowhere near Cleveland, but he may soon be signing up for season tickets.

Finally, it actually happened, and Dufner had a lot to say…

We’re guessing Dufner will get a good night sleep, dreaming of Johnny Cleveland in brown and orange. After carding a 3-under-par 69 on Thursday at the Players Championship, Dufner tees off at 1:18 p.m. Friday.
