John Daly is Really Excited to See Tiger Woods at the Open Championship

Two-time major champion John Daly is excited to see his friend and counterpart, Tiger Woods, at Hoylake later this month... and the two have more in common than you might think.

Daly, who claimed his second major title at the 1995 Open Championship in a playoff with Constantino Rocca, talked about the incredible effect Woods has on any event he's involved with.

"Wherever Tiger is playing, it just moves the needle right up there in terms of spectator numbers and TV interest, so it will be great for The Open to see him teeing it up at Royal Liverpool," Daly said in an interview with SB Nation.

Woods made his return last week at the tournament he hosts, the Quicken Loans National at Congressional, but didn't stick around too long, missing his first 36-hole cut since the 2012 Greenbrier Classic. Daly, on the other hand, had a pretty decent week in Cologne, Germany ahead of his next two starts, the Scottish Open and the Open Championship.

Erik Compton Among Five Players Invited to Open Championship

After finishing in a tie for second at the 2014 U.S. Open at Pinehurst, many people have been wondering how it's possible that Erik Compton could be left out of the field for this month's Open Championship at Royal Liverpool.

No need to wonder any longer. On Monday, Compton, the two-time heart transplant recipient, was announced as one of five players receiving invitations to play in The Open in two weeks. In addition, Brooks Koepka, K.J. Choi, Charles Howell III and Freddie Jacobsen also received invites.

With time running out to qualify for The Open, the R&A turned to it's list of alternatives to fill spots for this year's 156-player field. Compton got the call thanks to his position in the Official World Golf Ranking.

Players who have not yet qualified will have four remaining opportunities to do so. Four invites for players who aren't already exempt finishing T-12 or better at the Greenbrier Classic, three players finishing T-10 or better at the French Open, one player finishing T-5 or better at the John Deere Classic and three invites for players finishing T-10 or better in the Scottish Open.

Every golfer knows the importance of getting a hot start to their round. Get through the first three or four holes in one or two under, get the competitive juices flowing and you know you're in good shape for your round. That being said, any start you've had isn't as good as the one Tony Finau of the Tour got off to. He got off to, like, one of the hottest starts ever.

Starting on the back nine at Victoria National Golf Club in Newburgh, Ind., during the second round of the United Leasing Championship, Finau made a eagle on 10 to open his final round at two-under. On the next hole, the par-3 11th, Finau dunked his tee shot, making an ace and bringing him to four-under through two.

He just missed firing 29 on his opening nine holes and finished the round with a 64, eventually finishing T-4 at seven-under for the week.

Finau may not have won, but that doesn't take anything away from his amazing start last Friday and a stretch of holes he won't soon forget.

Cold Blooded: Amazing Alligator Fight Breaks Out on Golf Course

Seeing one alligator on a golf course is terrifying, especially when your golf ball lands near it (or on its head). Now imagine seeing two fairly large gators fighting next to the tee box.

That's probably not something you'd want to get involved in, or even get close to. But that's exactly what one golfer did, and it turned into a great video: Read More

Ian Poulter Gets 'Royal' Treatment at Wimbledon

    Ian Poulter anchor

It's a well-known fact that it's good to be Ian Poulter. Not only does he have really unique car problems, he also gets to see and do a lot of really cool things … you know, outside of being a professional golfer who travels the world on private planes and plays the greatest courses on planet Earth.

He's already had VIP access to the Daytona 500 and this week, the man in tartan pants was given the royal treatment at Wimbledon. As is customary for Poulter, he made sure to document much of his time there on social media:  Read More

    Out Of Bounds

If you've ever ventured out of your home and into a car and onto the highways and byways of this or any other country, than you've probably run into some terrible, horrible, no-good, rotten drivers. This one from Portland, however, may be the single worst driver on the planet:

As the videographer remarks, he could park a "jumbo jet" in that spot, but this driver can't even get her tiny sedan in there. I mean, she can … she does, just not tight enough against the curb. Then, with what looks like a mile behind her, she inexplicably continues to try the same maneuver with her front wheels turned to the right, multiple times without success. She finally gives up, hoping to find a canyon-sized space to park her car somewhere else. Un. Real.
