Final Five Players Added to U.S. Open Field
Unless you live under a rock or have been incarcerated for some extended period of time, you’re well aware that the U.S. Open will be played this week. After weeks and weeks of preparation and qualifiers, the final five names have been added to the field and two of the players came up just short of breakthrough wins in the last couple weeks. Kevin Na, who finished runner-up at the Memorial Tournament, and Bernd Weisberger, coming off a playoff loss last week at the European Tour’s Lyoness Open, both snuck into the top 60 in the Official World Golf Ranking, assuring them a spot at Pinehurst.
The other three players making it in under the wire are Craig Barlow and amateurs Brandon McIver and Cameron Wilson. Since only two of the five reserved spots went to guys who jumped into the top 6o of the OWGR by the final deadline, these three guys picked up spots as alternates from sectional qualifying.
The U.S. Open gets underway Thursday morning at Pinehurst No. 2.

All of Graeme McDowell’s Shots From 2010 U.S. Open Win
One man looking for his second title in America’s championship is Graeme McDowell. The Northern Irishman won at Pebble Beach in 2010, and just in case you forgot how important making clutch shots and putting is, here’s a friendly reminder that McDowell posted to his Twitter account.
— Graeme McDowell (@Graeme_McDowell) June 9, 2014
McDowell’s life changed that forever that day. As he chronicled in a pretty awesome column for BBC, McDowell wrote, “You wake up the next day the same person but the way you are perceived by others has changed for eternity. That’s what you have to come to terms with a person and as a golfer.”
So, whose life will be changing in a week? Time will tell, but as McDowell reminds us, it’s probably going to be whoever putts the best (*cough* Jordan Spieth *cough*) this week at Pinehurst.

Justin Rose Gets Sexy New Putter Just in Time for U.S. Open
It’s got to be nice to be a professional. I mean, playing golf every day, getting personalized stuff from companies just for being you … gosh, it must be nice. Take, for instance, the putter 2013 U.S. Open champion Justin Rose just got from the folks at TaylorMade:

Mmmm, that’s just beautiful. I love the flat black finish on this thing. And, according to his Instagram account, it looks like he’ll be giving one away pretty soon. If you like this putter as much as I do, you might want to start paying close attention to Rosie’s Twitter account in the coming days.

The Most Interesting Golf Celebration in the World
Miguel Angel Jimenez never fails to disappoint, week in and week out. This time it was (unsurprisingly) for his dance moves, and they’re terrific.
During the final round of the European Tour’s Lyoness Open in Austria, Jimenez holed out for eagle on the 13th hole. The shot was great, but the ensuing celebration was even better. Read More
