Jimmy Walker Believes In Aliens

Everyone needs to have a hobby to keep from going insane. Many choose golf, which begs the question: What do golfers do for a hobby? Well, if you’re three-time PGA Tour winner Jimmy Walker, you dabble in astrophotography.

Walker also admitted that, thanks in part to his passion for astrophotography and the results of his work, he believes we aren’t alone.

“There’s no question that there’s something out there. There’s gotta be,” Walker said in an interview with Golf Magazine. “With all the pictures I’ve taken, and the reading I’ve done about galaxies, and how many stars there are in galaxies, and how many galaxies there are in the universe, I have no doubt that there is life out there, just based on the numbers.”

Walked continued to say, however, that he doesn’t believe we’ve ever been visited by aliens and that if there were a PGA Tour player who hailed from outer space, he assumed it’d be Tiger Woods, “because the stuff he’s done in his career is out of this world.”

USGA Releases 2014 U.S. Open Poster

You may have never heard of Lee Wybranski, but if you love golf you’re familiar with his work. Wybranski has been painting the promotional posters for the U.S. Open for the better part of a decade. He began his run in 2008 when the event was held at Torrey Pines and has continued all the way through last year at Merion. This year’s installment has just been released and is featured below, along with posters from the 2012 and 2013 U.S. Opens:

Prints of posters from previous years are available online and the 2014 edition celebrating the men’s and women’s U.S. Opens on back-to-back weeks is available now on the USGA’s website

Tiger Woods Is The Most Popular Athlete In Vermont

A list of the most Google-searched athletes by state has been released and it comes as little surprise that LeBron James was the runaway “most Googled” athlete, tops in 24 states. Not surprisingly, Tom Brady cleaned up in the Northeast, taking the lead in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Maine, but not in Vermont. That was a bit of a surprise. The Green Mountain State’s most Googled athlete was… Tiger Woods?

I’m really not sure how this happened. If I’m Keegan Bradley, I’m a little offended. If you’re going to have your most-Googled athlete be a golfer, it should be the guy who’s from there and has won a major championship, right? And if not Bradley, how about Tom Brady? Or a skier? Nope. It’s Tiger Woods. Go figure.

Tiger Woods is World’s Highest-Paid Athlete Endorser

Breaking news: Tiger Woods makes a lot of money. Golf’s world No. 1 isn’t collecting much this season on the course – just $86,919 in two PGA Tour events completed this year, and he’s now out indefinitely following back surgery – but he’ll be just fine living off his endorsements.

Wall St. Cheat Sheet compiled a list of the wealthiest athletes based on their endorsement dollars, and Woods is No. 1 with $65 million. Well, that number actually ties him with tennis superstar Roger Federer, but the list gives the nod to Woods, who counts Nike, Rolex, Upper Deck, NetJets, Fuse Science and Kowa among his sponsors. Ian Poulter, Jason Dufner Take On Table Tennis Champs In China

Few tournaments do a better job of creating hype and putting on a show than events in the Far East. From crazy costumes to sword play, there always seems to be some very interesting sights and sounds from the opening ceremonies.

This year’s festivities ahead of the European and OneAsia Tour’s Volvo China Open pitted Euro Tour stalwart Ian Poulter and reigning PGA champion Jason Dufner against a couple former world champion table tennis stars at their game. Read More

Out Of Bounds

A lot of people aren’t fans of this move but hey, if you’re a celebrity and you’re going to sit courtside at an NBA playoff game, then you’ve got to look fly. Drake might be accused of being soft, or some say the rap game has gone soft, but I don’t think this is necessarily a sign of that. If you’re in the pubic eye, you need to look your best. Besides, who knows what kind of dust or dog hair or something is being kicked up that close to the action? Smart move, bro. Smart move.
