Josh Beckett Plays Pine Valley, Tosses No-Hitter
Dodgers pitcher Josh Beckett has been around the bigs for a while now and coming into this season most experts believed his better days were behind him — until last week. The 2003 World Series champ took the mound on Sunday against the Philadelphia Phillies and hurled the first no-hitter of his career in a 6-0 Dodgers victory. It was the 21st in club history. For those of you who love big moments, here’s Beckett recording the final out:
Two days earlier, Beckett, whose love of golf has gotten him in trouble before, told reporters that he played Pine Valley Golf Club, the No. 1 course in the world according to Golf Digest, just days before (the mention is at 2:36 mark).
Huh, so much for having his best days behind him? Sounds like Beckett had himself a pretty good Memorial Day weekend.

Bubba Watson Plays Bushwood Country Club
OK, OK, it wasn’t the real Bushwood, but it was a Bushwood and that counts, too, right? Watson stopped by to play a round on his way through Ontario, Canada, I guess to say he’s played the course where “Caddyshack” was shot?

If that’s true, he’d be wrong. Bushwood Country Club, at least the one in the film, isn’t even a real thing. The pretend Bushwood was actually the Grande Oaks Country Club in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Either way, I’m sure Bubba got himself some type of “Caddyshack” souvenirs from his visit.

Rory McIlroy’s week didn’t start off on a positive note, but it sure did end on one. In a shocking move, McIlroy called off his engagement and subsequently terminated his relationship with tennis star Caroline Wozniacki after sending out wedding invitations last weekend. This weekend, the Irishman is celebrating his first win since he bested Adam Scott in Australia at the end of 2013. After the win, McIlroy remained mum about his breakup, but did say that he felt, “relieved.”

With the amount of Jordan golf spikes showing up online via His Airness’ son, Marcus, and Keegan Bradley, speculation is growing that someday soon the Jordan Brand will be moving into the golf shoe genre. Obviously, this would be a huge move and, if they’re anywhere as popular as the sneakers are, will be massively successful. Until then, however, we’re all just left drooling and wishing we were Keegan Bradley.

The Gambler: Phil Mickelson Made Paul Azinger Pay Dearly
Few things are more legendary around PGA Tour circles than Phil Mickelson’s practice round money games. Thanks to 1993 PGA Champion Paul Azinger, we now have one of the best stories about Mickelson taking someone’s money.
During an interview on Sirius XM’s “Legends of the Links” radio show, Azinger told the story of one particular practice round match that saw him and the late, great Payne Stewart square off against Mickelson and Ben Crenshaw sometime in the early 90s. The game was called “Air Press” and resulted in an awesome quote and a lot of money leaving one man’s pocket. Read More
Video: Jimmy Walker Hits A Birdie… For Real
It’s probably something we’ve all suspected could happen while playing golf, but we’ve never actually seen a golf ball hit a bird mid-flight. At least, not until Jimmy Walker did it at the Crowne Plaza Invitational. Read More

Well, it finally happened: The epic drum battle between Will Ferrell and the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith that had been promised to us since we found out that the two look alike. The stage, of course, was “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon” and the show did not disappoint. Also of note, be sure to stay tuned ’til the end of the video, as there is a surprise that is worth the wait:
