Luke Donald Sticks One At 17; Celebrates Like Johnny Manziel

All week long it seemed like the talk was about Johnny Football and the NFL Draft. Rightfully so, I suppose, and even the stars of the PGA Tour got into it. Golf nut Johnny Manziel, with his flashy personality, is a star before taking one snap in the NFL. He even has his own celebratory gesture, one that Luke Donald borrowed after sticking his tee shot on the treacherous 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass:

Now that I think of it, the fist bump is old hat. I want to see the guys on tour start gesturing like this after big-time shots or winning tournaments. Boo Weekley has the bull dance. I think it's time some stars start adopting their own celebratory dances.

Kaymer Adds Another Putt To The Lore Of Sawgrass' 17th

After making a mess of his second shot on the 17th green, Martin Kaymer had an incredibly difficult putt left to save par and remain at 13-under, and all alone in the lead at the Players Championship. The hole that has given us great clutch putts and one that was, "better than most," yielded one more on Sunday:

It's hard to believe that putt went in when you watch it live, but when you see just how much break was in it and how perfectly Kaymer played it, it's really ridiculous. Especially under all that pressure. Kaymer, a former world No. 1, had fallen all the way into the 200s of the world rankings since his last win on U.S. soil at the 2010 PGA Championship.

Tweet Of The Week

The Players Championship is one of the most highly-regarded tournaments of the year on the PGA Tour, earning itself the moniker of "the fifth major." With all the prestige that comes with winning the event, the practice rounds are surprisingly loose and fun. Just take a look at Rickie Fowler, Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson switching it up on the 17th. If that's not cool enough, the caddies take over on the 17th during the Wednesday practice rounds, yielding some pretty funny tweets and a lot of balls in the water.

Photo Of The Week

I'm not sure if this guy is really a firefighter who took one of his old helmets and painted it up all Rickie Fowler/PUMA style, or if you can buy these somewhere. Either way, a couple things are true here. First, this guy might have been the biggest Fowler fan at TPC Sawgrass last week, and second, that hat certainly sticks out among the crowd. I'm not sure I'd rock the look, but I salute you for doing it, bold sir.

adam-scott-wedding-article

Long known as one of golf's most attractive males, Adam Scott is spoken for. Sorry ladies.

The world No. 2 golfer – who could've become No. 1 this week at the Players Championship if he hadn't flubbed his way to a 5-over 77 on Thursday – secretly got married to his longtime girlfriend, Marie Kojzar, three weeks ago at Scott's house in the Bahamas. Only a few friends and family members attended, while Scott wore a suit and bow tie and his bride donned a "non-traditional" dress. Read More

9 Great Mom Moments in Golf

rickie-mom-article

Tons of golfers have their mother to thank for helping them get to the elite level on which they play. Other than the obvious (birthing them into this world), there were clubs to buy, lessons to pay for, course snacks to make, and occasionally a shoulder on which to cry -- in good moments and bad.

So there are few people prouder than mothers when it comes to their sons or daughters triumphing on the big stage. Here's a look at nine cool moments when moms got to share the spotlight. Read More

Out Of Bounds

In case you missed it, history was made at this year's NFL Draft. Michael Sam, the defensive star from the University of Missouri who received accolades from all over when he announced that he was gay earlier this year, was taken by the St. Louis Rams in the seventh round. If watching this video doesn't make you feel all of the feels, then you probably have no nerve endings.
