Pat Perez Channels Kramer, Hits Drives Into The Ocean

Playing golf by the water affords opportunities that playing in the desert does not. Just ask Pat Perez, who resides in Arizona and echoed that sentiment on his Instagram account this week. Perez has really been enjoying his week at the Players Championship in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. He even took some time out to hit drives into the ocean, a la Kramer in "Seinfeld."

No whales were harmed during the making of this video … that we know of.

Tiger Woods Announces Golf Plans For Late 2014

If you haven't heard, Tiger Woods hasn't been playing golf on the PGA Tour lately. In fact, he hasn't really been playing golf at all. The last we heard, Woods had resumed chipping and putting and was targeting a return at this year's Open Championship. Now, we know he's at least slated to play an event in October.

According to Woods' agent, Marc Steinberg, he is expected to team up with Presidents Cup partner and good friend Matt Kuchar at the inaugural Americas Golf Cup, set to take place Oct. 21-26 in Buenos Aires.

The reports noted, of course, that Woods playing in this event is contingent on his back being healthy. If he doesn't make his return this summer as planned, he probably won't be heading to Argentina. Whenever Woods tees it up again, we'll all be more than ready.

Remembering Seve

This week three years ago, the game of golf lost a legend. Seve Ballesteros, the five-time major champion, lost his battle with brain cancer. Ballesteros transcended the game, especially in Europe, growing golf on the continent like few ever have. The Spaniard shined in individual competition, winning 91 times around the world, including a record 50 times on the European Tour.

Seve had a reputation for being a magician on the golf course. Before Bubba Watson there was Seve Ballesteros. No one was more creative in spots of bother than Ballesteros, who routinely pulled off the ridiculous with ease. In honor of Ballesteros, European tour stalwarts like Nick Faldo and Back9Network's Padraig Harrington petitioned the European Tour to replace its old logo silhouette with one of Ballesteros' iconic fist pump, made famous after his win in the 1984 Open Championship.

Gone but not forgotten, Ballesteros' legacy will live on forever.

Fred Couples, Jim 'Bones' McKay Share Rare Feat at Sawgrass' 17th

couples-mackay-article

Fred Couples has spent his career wowing crowds with his ability on the golf course. With a swing that looks so smooth it could lull you to sleep, yet so powerful it helped spawn his nickname, "Boom-Boom," Couples has been producing memorable moments for nearly 35 years.

Many of those memories came at TPC Sawgrass during the Players Championship. Couples won the tournament in 1984 and 1996, and made an ace at the 17th in 1997. But it was in 1999 when he made arguably the toughest par-3 in the history of golf. Read More

Justin Leonard Slam Dunks No. 1 at TPC Sawgrass, Destroys Cup

leonard-article

Getting off to a good start is always the goal for players at a golf tournament. Since dropping in a hole-in-one is next to impossible considering very few courses start with a par 3, you can't do much better than an eagle.

That's how Justin Leonard's day began Thursday at the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass. He dunked his approach shot on the first hole – and slammed it home so hard the cup had to be replaced. Read More

Out Of Bounds

The art of throwing out a ceremonial first pitch is one that very few have mastered. Everyone from Olympic athletespoliticians, golfers and nearly every celebrity in between has tried to fire a strike and failed. The best part about these is the good-natured ribbing of these people and their plight.

One not-so-good first pitch that will get a pass came the other night in San Diego when a T-Rex threw it out. You really can't blame a dinosaur for not being good at baseball, right? All things considered, this was a good bid:
