Rory McIlroy Heckled, Booed for Fanhood

On Sunday at Royal Liverpool, Rory McIlroy again proved that sometimes you can believe the hype. He also proved that no matter who you are, if you're in enemy territory, you will be heckled for it.

Before going any further, I should clarify that statement. McIlroy is a longtime Manchester United fan. The team's biggest rival in the English Premier League is Liverpool F.C. Their rivalry on the pitch dates back to the industrial revolution and has been raging ever since. Combine that with the passion that fans of each club have, and you're bound to be on the receiving end of some heckling should your allegiance be to the wrong side -- especially if you provoke them like McIlroy did:

What can you say? Haters gonna hate, right?

Obviously, the patrons weren't booing the golf. McIlroy put on a clinic all week, holding off Rickie Fowler and Sergio Garcia to capture the third major championship of his career.

In the world of golf, the future is now. With his win in the Open Championship, McIlroy has already claimed three legs of the career grand slam. He's won 13 times as a professional, three of those major titles, and shows no signs of slowing down. McIlory has had a rough 2014 off the course and an up-and-down one on it, leading some to question his motivation and focus. McIlroy's win at Royal Liverpool should do wonders to keep them quiet, at least for a little while.

McIlroy will now set his eyes on the Masters in April, looking to join Tiger Woods, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Ben Hogan and Gene Sarazen as the only men to have captured the modern-era career grand slam.

Tweet Of The Week

Perhaps it's all the walking, the time in between shots, the lack of people running into each other at full speed, and the lack of car crashes, but some people don't think golf is exciting. Sure, it's not the most exciting sport on the surface and, admittedly so, even the players need to get their kicks doing things off the course. In the case of Cheyenne Woods, her new thing may be driving race cars:

Thanks to Bentley, Woods and three of her Ladies European Tour compadres hit the track last week, racing the GTV8S at Thurxton Circuit in England. Woods seemed to enjoy herself quite a bit, which has to make you wonder: Will she be joining Rickie Fowler on the track once her golf career is over?

The selfie has become a social media staple over the years, perhaps taken to a new level when Ellen DeGeneres took the most famous selfie ever at the 2014 Academy Awards. Now Rory McIlroy may have just taken the most famous golf selfie in history.

Moments after winning his first Open Championship at Royal Liverpool on Sunday, Rory grabbed his smartphone, the claret jug, a few dozen lucky fans and took advantage of the opportunity. Read More

Hockey Star Tyler Seguin Allows Tee Shot Off His Nether Region

Tyler Seguin is one of the best young players in the NHL. At just 22 years old, Seguin has already been in the league for four years and was a part of the 2010-11 Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins.

Despite being a veteran in the NHL, Seguin is still super young and thus, susceptible to the temptation of heinously stupid behavior. This was on display during his charity golf tournament recently, when he became the latest person to allow someone to hit a shot off their body. Read More

Out Of Bounds

For most rookies transitioning from college football to the NFL, the switch can be overwhelming. All of a sudden, the talent pool is that much deeper and you've got to work that much harder. In those cases, pride must take a back seat and hard work must be done to turn yourself into a star. These rookies got their first taste of that in the most kind possible way -- by finding out what they're rated for Madden 2015. As you might imagine, after giving their opinions on what their rating should be, they were quite surprised by what they're actually rated. Enjoy:
